How to Reach Sasan Gir National Park

Way Of Gir National Park:-

The Sasan Gir National Park is the wildlife sanctuary specifically a Lion reserve forest located in the Gujarat state of India and the only forest reserve for the Asiatic Lions. The endangered Asiatic Lion is the main wild animal in this park, which makes it a prime wildlife tourism destination in India. The Gir National Park attracts a large flow of wildlife-loving tourist from all over the world due to the forest safari organized by the forest administration for the wildlife sighting. The Asiatic which was once found in abundance in the forests of Gir had come on the verge of extinction due to the hunting, poaching and condensed forest area but the situation has been changed after the high conservation efforts. The Jeep Safari is allowed in the park for the wildlife sighting from 16th October to 15th June.

The park is located at the distance of 65 km from the Junagadh city of Gujarat and around 40 km from the city of Somnath and stretched over an area of 1412 sq km. Visiting the park is easy as the park is well accessible from various cities of Gujarat which are further connected to other cities of the country by road, rail and air. By the Air-

The Keshod airport and the Rajkot airport are the nearest airports where the tourists can reach by the air route and then travel by road to reach the entry gate of Gir National Park. The Keshod airport is around 70 km and the Rajkot airport is around 160 km away from the Sasan park. From the airport, the cab and taxi can easily be hired to reach the park. Both the airports are the domestic airport so best suited for the domestic tourist. But, for the tourists visiting from abroad, the Mumbai international airport is the best option to reach and then take the rail route or the road route to reach the park. One can also reach the Diu airport from the Mumbai airport by flight and then take the cab or taxi from the Diu airport which will take around 2 hours to reach Gir Park. The Porbandar airport is another option to reach from Mumbai airport and then take the road journey of around 2 and a half hour to reach the Sasan park.

By the Rail-

The nearest railway stations from the park are Junagadh and Veraval railway station at the distance of 51 km and 42 km respectively. Both the stations are situated on the two main rail route of the Gujarat state and well connected to the other cities of the country by the daily trains.There is taxi, cab and the state bus services available from both the stations and can easily be reached at the park within 2 hours of drive. The Rajkot railway station is located at the distance of 165 km from the park, which can also be a good rail route option. The Gir park is around 4 hours of drive from the Rajkot station.

By the Road-

Gujarat state is known for having the excellent roads in the country so the road trip to Gir National Park from the nearby cities can be a fun trip. The road trip is the most enjoyable journey than any other trip and if the road is good and the environment is appealing then it could be a memorable journey. The Gir National Park is connected to the other cities and towns of the state with the well-maintained road. You can either choose your own vehicle for the road trip or hire the public transport to reach the park. There are the regular state bus services available from various cities of Gujarat to reach the park.
